Cap

Convex, expanding with age, covered with brown to blackish scales, no colour change with KOH, sometimes with veil remnants at the margin, to about 12 cm across

Gills

Free, broad, close, whitish, then pink, finally dark brown, bruising red

Stem

Equal or tapered, base +/- bulbous, whitish, ring fleshy

Flesh

Whitish to pale brownish, not or only slightly reddening, firm
